What the site is for
Before you build or buy anything for a project, you need a sensible idea of what goes into it: how much material, how many pieces, and roughly what it will cost. FigureWright gives you those numbers quickly, shows how each one was worked out, and lets you change the assumptions to match your project.
The site starts with fencing (posts, boards, pickets, concrete and cost) and adds other home and garden projects over time, one carefully built calculator at a time.
The calculators
- Fence Calculator: Posts, rails, pickets or panels, and concrete for a whole fence project.
- Fence Post Calculator: How many posts a fence run needs, the real spacing, and concrete per hole.
- Wood Fence Calculator: Boards, rails and lumber for privacy, picket, board-on-board, shadowbox or horizontal styles.
- Fence Cost Calculator: A line-by-line project estimate using prices you can edit to match your area.
- Fence Picket Calculator: Pickets needed for a given width and gap, with waste and exact even spacing.
How we approach it
- Show the working. Every calculator explains its formula and includes a worked example you can check by hand.
- Be clear about assumptions. Where the tools have to assume something (rail counts, board sizes, bag yields), they say so, and you can usually change it.
- Estimates, not guarantees. The results are for planning. They don’t replace local building rules, a site survey, engineering advice or a contractor’s quote.
- No accounts, no data collection. The calculators run entirely in your browser. What you type isn’t sent to a server.
The details are on the methodology page.
